Photarc History
Photarc was founded in 1974 to provide mapping and 3D measurement services using photogrammetry. In the years since, although we have embraced a wide range of other technologies, Photarc remains focussed on the business of capturing, presenting and visualising 3D spatial data.Photarc has a history of innovation. In the 1970s we developed underwater photogrammetric systems for measurement in the depths of the North Sea, the 80s saw the introduction of a unique railway tunnel measurement system and in the 90s we designed a helicopter based mapping system for high accuracy, large scale mapping for road and rail surveys. In the 21st century innovation at Photarc continues with the addition of laser measurement technologies, 3D point cloud creation from photography and the creation of Photarc 3D, a division of the company devoted to digital modelling and visualisation for an ever widening range of customers.
